The Renewable Energy Truck is On
 This green demonstration truck is equipped with a “clean” combustion engine and an off-grid cabin combining elements that function with renewable energies such as photovoltaic panels and wind turbines, to generate electricity from solar and wind energies. The Truck is now ready to tour and visit Lebanese schools and academic institutions. |
Launching the Ecotruck The Lebanese Solar Energy Society (LSES) and the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) officially launch the Ecotruch in a prestigious event under the patronage of the Ministers of Energy and Water and Industry, in addition to the Ambassador of Switzerland in Lebanon. The Ecotruck is an educational vehicle that tours around schools and provides educational material on renewable energy technologies. LSES at BEF 2012 LSES was present through President Abu Said and Honorary President El Baba as moderators, and Board Advisor Nuwayhid as a speaker. Abi Said Honored at BEF 2012 For his writings and commitment to sustainability in this sector, Mr. Abi Said was honored by HE Mr. Gebran Bassil at the opening session, during which it was announced that UNDP is compiling the works of Mr. Abi Said in a book to be printed and published soon. LSES at Eco-Orient LSES was present at the Eco-Orient Exhibition through a booth presenting LSES latest publications and activities. The society was also present at the conference through the president who gave a presentation on the running applications of PV in Lebanon during the Eco-orient conference. Also LSES board advisor was present moderating a session on the applications of EE and RE. LSES at the ISES Board MeetingDr. Ahmad Houri, LSES board member, attended and actively participated the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) Board meeting (Denver, USA) from May 12 to 13, in his capacity as a representative for small sections. The board meeting was held right before the World Renewable Energy Forum (WREF2012) during which Dr. Houri had a forum presentation and attended the ISES Annual General Meeting. He was also present at the ISEE initiative for school competitions organized by ISES and was nominated to be a member of the board restructuring committee. LSES Participates in the Regional Workshop on Solar Thermal EnergyWalid El Baba represented LSES in the Regional Workshop for the transformation and strengthening of the solar water heating market in the Mediterranean. The workshop organized jointly by OME, UNDP, GEF, UNEP, and the Internaional Copper Association, was held in Beirut on the 17th and 18th of April 2012. LSES with AUB ALUMNI at the national net-metering workshop The Lebanese Solar Energy Society partners with the Engineering and Architecture Section of the American University of Beirut Alumni Association in Mount Lebanon, and the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation at the Green Power Technology Conference entitled: "Net Metering, From Concept to Reality". LSES President, Ramzi Abu Said, gave a presentation on the applications of net-metering from the technical perspective. LSES at the The Energy and Industry Conference: The Lebanese Solar Energy Society was present at The Energy and Industry Conference organized by The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Institute nd Ministry of Industry. The conference was held at the Commodore Hotel on the 6th and 7th of March 2012. Dr. Ahmad Houri, treasurer of LSES, gave a presentation on the uses of solar energy and source of power for water heating and electricity generation. LSES at the ESCWA Experts' Meeting: Dr. Ahmad Houri represented LSES at the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Workshop on: “Scaling up the use of Renewable Energy in rural areas in ESCWA Member Countries” held on the 1st and 2nd of February 2012 at the UN House in Beirut. Dr. Houri gave a talk on the role of Feed-In Tariff in promoting the adoption of renewable energy regionally and globally. LSES New Board Elected for 2012-2013:
LSES held a general assembly meeting on January 11, 2012 to elect a new board to serve for the years 2012 and 2013. The new board, head by Ramzi Abu Said and composed of 10 members, was elected with the approval of all attending members with 3 new board members and 7 re-elected members. Committee chairs were elected as well to head the financial committee, the Membership, Public Relations, and Awareness Committee, and the Research, Activities, and Exibitions Committee.  | Upcoming Events |
